Dropping a class

So I applied to UW and it is my #1 choice, and I am on the border, 50/50 chance of getting in. I am in AP Computer Science, an elective, and the class is very hard and our teacher isn't great and I really want out of the class. My plan is to drop the class to be Teacher's Aide. Do you think dropping would affect my admission chances?

It’s second semester of your senior year, I doubt your grade will affect your chances that much.

Well yes, but my teacher has never taught us really and I could actually get a D in the class, which could get me rescinded if i do get accepted…

If you drop the class, I don’t think it would affect admissions that much. What did you get first semester?

If you drop it, let the admissions people know ASAP or they’ll assume you only had AP CS to “look good” on your application, and planned to switch to TAing all along. They’ll make a note of it in your application.

UW told me it could negatively affect my admission, so I decided to stay in the course. Just a heads up to other people.

Oh wow, okay. Good luck! :)

Definitely, stay in the course. I don’t believe that getting a D in one course will get you rescinded. Just try your best and try not to worry too much. When I was senior in high school, I was in the similar situation that you are in now, but whatever decision you make will not drastically affect your admission. I hope things work out for you! Good luck :)
