I took the AP Biology course in high school and got credit for both semester. But being the dumb one I am, I rejected my credit for the class. I'm taking 17 hours this semester and am definately overwhelmed. I think if I drop Biology 112 (evolutionary Biology, plants, ecology, etc.), and accept my credit, I'll be okay. The only way I can do this is if I'm willing to accept a Q-drop (a withdrawal from the class). On my transcript, it will still show that I took the course, but instead of getting an actual grade, I will have a Q next to it. I'm not sure if I should proceed with this. This class will in no means be beneficial to me in the long run. Thanks for your advice!

unless you are in danger of getting lower than a C in the class, I would say no. My premed advisors have always said that a withdrawal signals that you were struggling mightily in the class, and would be looked down upon

just to clarify, there's no evolution, plants, eco stuff on the MCAT right? so would not taking that part of the intro bio series end up coming back to screw us over later?

there's some stuff that ties in with evolutionary bio, but nothing really detailed at all, no plants or ecology. the issue is not skipping that part of the series, the issue is with the W (or Q, as the case may be) on the transcript

1 or 2 W's is probably okay. Any more will raise eyebrows. Save your W's for when you really need them. If you're not doing poorly in the class, there's no reason to drop it.
