Hey, so I was accepted and NYU stated that if changes were to be made to your high school schedule, to email NYU. I got this somewhat nebulous response:

"Ideally, it's our hope that students admitted to the University will continue to perform at a comparable level in a comparable course load throughout senior year. That said, if there are special circumstances surrounding a need for a course change we do understand, and it's quite rare that one change in a student's schedule would impact his or her offer of admission.

As long as you continue to perform well in your remaining academic courses, this should not be an issue."

Would you think that this implies that I am granted permission to drop a course or not?

Thank you

“This should not be an issue.” sounds pretty reassuring to me.

The written response is not perfectly clear. My DD wrote to an actual person at one of her accepted EA universities to ask if they needed the mid-year report. This is a response I trust because it comes from an admissions officer. He said no mid-year report was necessary since she was already accepted, but that she should not fail any classes this spring. I suggest you find a live person who can tell you the answer. Each institution has different policies and expectations.

@disari21 I’ve been leaning toward this. Thanks

@laplatinum I checked with my Guidance Councilor and he said it shouldn’t be a problem. I’m dropping AP Comp Sci as a Pre-med/Biochem so I doubt they’ll place emphasis on that. Thank you

Great to hear you did some checking before making any decisions! Good luck to you!
