Dropping SAT II's?

I'm signed up for 2 SAT IIs for May 7th, but I want to just take one of them and leave (not really ready for the other one, and dont have much time to prepare). Is this allowed, or do I have to take 2 tests if I'm signed up for 2 tests?

If you take 2 or less, your fine. If you take 3, however, you will be charged later. So yes, you can drop one (just dont take that test in the test book and listen to the proctor's directions), but you won't get a refund.
Hope that helps

yeah it does. thanks

So does that mean that the person has more time to do the 1 SAT II?

No. Each SAT II test is 1 hour long. If you only take one test, you leave the test center after an hour.

You can take two tests and spend 1 1/2 hour on one and spend 1/2 hour and the other and then cancel the second score if you don't want it. This is not really following the rules, but oh well.

Yeah, but don't. It's cheating. If you get caught, you,re screwed in all sorts of nasty ways...and you probably won't be going to a decent college for a while.

actually they found out about that trick. It is not longer allowed, you cannot cancel just one sat 2 exam if you took more than one. When you cancel one, all the tests will be cancelled.

Good to know, icyfire. In fact, I should've know that, but the surf must've been up when it was announced or something...

No, No, No.

You'd better check with Collegeboard.com. Here's what I found there.

<< SAT Subject Tests

You must cancel ALL scores for that test date.

To cancel a score at the test center, ask the test supervisor for a Request to Cancel Test Scores Form, complete it immediately, and return it to the test supervisor before leaving the room. Once your request to cancel scores has been submitted, your scores cannot be reinstated and will not be reported to you or your designated institutions.

If you erase all responses to an individual Subject Test, it will be considered a request for cancellation, and scores from all tests taken on that day will be canceled. >>

Um, I emailed college board and fellow by the name of "Dale" entertained an entire slue of questions based on the SAT subject tests. I myself, originally signed up to take three, decided, "well, I'm going to have quite a hectic schedule with all of my AP's that same week; so, i think i should cancel one." If you wanted to know, that was verbatim, as i visited the little boys room in between fifth and sixth period. That evening i emailed D-the ale--collegeboard, and learned that if i didnt wish to take all three SAT II's and just two--I could do so by notifying the proctor, in turn forfitting the measely money i spent on one of the tests. While, yes, still being able to take my other two SAT II tests.

Post the respone oh "unsure" one:

Ugh, horrendous grammar on my part...

I wasn't planning on canceling my second score at all. I want to just take the first one for an hour, then leave...does collegeboard differentiate between this and actually "canceling" a score?

Yes. From what I understand, your score is canceled if you request all your scores to be canceled, or if you stay for a test and turn in a blank answer sheet (like staying for a second hour but not actually doing a test in that time). Leaving after one test is fine - you'll get your score for the first test, but won't get a refund if you paid for two tests.
