drug possession and law school?

Last year I got caught with marijuana on campus. I got a strike at my school (you get three strikes and then you get expelled,) and I had to go to court. I talked to the judge in his chambers and told him about how I was sexually assaulted the year before and started using marijuana to cope. The judge put me on deferred adjunctication and I never ended up getting charged for anything, but I did get in trouble with my school.

I had a D in one of my classes last year and knew I wasn't going to pass so I stopped going during the last two weeks. My instructor didn't assign WFs or WPs so I decided to do the repeat/forgive route and take an F. Today I found out that the first grade shows up as an "F" on your transcript regardless of the repeat/forgive program.

I have a W from this past semester, I dropped my Spanish class because it was too confusing taking two foreign languages in one semester. (Arabic is my minor.)

I am a Justice Studies and Spanish major with an Arabic Minor. I have a 2.9 GPA right now but I WILL get it up to a 3.2 by this time next year. After everything I just wrote, what do you think my chances are of getting into law school? I don't want to spend the next 2.5 years preparing for something that I won't get into.

The marijuana charge will not in and of itself destroy your chances but it does have to be revealed as part of the application so it certainly does not help. The W really won’t mean anything. The F will be used to calculate your GPA for law school even if you retake the course and get an A. A 3.2 GPA (if that is what it actually ends up being when you count the F) will still keep you in the running for many law schools although that is low for any top law school. LSAT will be very important.
