Has anyone interned at these two trading firms? What was the culture like and how difficult is it obtaining an internship? What types of interview questions do they ask?

Also, I hear that the really mathematical/technical questions and brainteasers are asked during second rounds only. First round tend to focus on resume/experiences. Anyone confirm this?

You'll find a much better response from wallstreetoasis.com. There's a ton of guys from Jane street on that board.

But yah, you're right, first round is just a fit interview.

From my research of the forums, here's a few of the second round questions.
1. EV of 1 roll of a die
2. EV of 2 rolls of a die
3. Gold bar question, if you can only cut a bar twice and you must pay your employee daily for a weekly rate of 1 bar, how do you pay him?

Good luck and congrats!~

Jane St doesn't care about any resume/experiences. First rounds will be phone interviews with lots of mental math/probability. Second round will require pen and paper. Third round is at their offices and you get to play a silly poker game where you risk chips given your answer certainty and if u win/lose a certain amount of money u get rejected/accepted.

For starters get Crack's book heard of the street. also if you aren't at the top of your class in math/stats don't think about applying. bonus points if you know programming, though not required for the trading position.

Many differences between DRW and JSC. DRW is part of prop trading , along wiht other notables like FNY, Trillium. JSC does market making similar to SIG. In my opinion marketing making >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> prop trading, especially given this market.

Also we're not talking gs distressed debt prop trading but like short term equity swings in the market so -EV unless you're lucky. fortunately DRW is very reputable and a great place to work, but there are MANY MANY scam prop chop shops that require capital contributions...etc. anyway good luck
