how difficult is it to get a degree in mechanical engineering and a degree from sloan in 4 years? I've been reading mixed things about dual degrees, either its totally doable or its impossible. Any thoughts?

Most people who double major do it in four years – if a double unexpectedly would necessitate staying another year or another semester, most people would try to get a minor or just graduate with one degree and coursework in another department.

Sloan is a pretty common double major, and it’s not unusual to double Sloan with a technical degree. To finish two majors is never exactly easy, particularly with fields like mechanical engineering and management that don’t have much overlap, but it’s certainly doable.

Sloan has historically not been that taxing, so double majors with business were quite doable–even before the “dual major” replaced the “double major”. Double majors in the past used to require a bunch of added classes on top of the major requirements, but they’ve eliminated that.

Sloan has some great opportunities for engineers and scientists who are interested in commercializing technology, entrepreneurship, and developing other business skills. You might also be interested in the Gordon Engineering Leadership program:
