Dual Enrollment

I want to get into Wharton. I took Business Calculus this last semester at my local university. If I had AP calc this year and am taking IB HL Math next year. What math class should I take next semester at my local college? Calculus 2??

I’d recommend taking multivariable calculus. If not that, take a linear algebra class.

To help give you an idea, Penn’s math sequence starts off with Math 104 (single variable calculus, similar to Calc BC), Math 114 (multivariable calculus), and Math 240 (differential equations and linear algebra).

If you want to potentially pursue a math minor, you might want to take multivariable calculus now, so you can place out of Math 104 and 114 without having to actually take the classes at Penn (see: http://www.math.upenn.edu/ugrad/transfer.html).

@whartonpenn2017 is exactly correct. DD did that. First semester she took Math 240 and received retroactive credit for Math 114 (already had AP credit for Math 104). Then she took Discrete Math (CS160) and Linear Algebra (Math 312).
