I am going to be starting at James Madison University in Fall 2012, and I was wondering if my idea made sense on what I wanted to major in.. I was wondering if it was possible, and/or smart to have:

a dual major in finance and business management, with an additional concentration in human resource management.

I personally think that this is a good combination, but I was wondering if it made sense to everyone else, and also if it was possible to do a dual major and also a concentration.
any help would be greatly appreciated!

You should get in contact with the College of Business, and ask them about what students have done in regards to double majoring or concentrating within the department. I would recommend starting in one, and then adding on another once you start looking at the requirements and how much time it might take to cover all the classes-- it might take longer to graduate, meaning more time and money in school. It sounds very ambitious, and I don’t mean to doubt your enthusiasm or ability, but it’s a lot of work and transitioning from HS to college is trickier than it seems. You don’t want to overload yourself and be moaning about work your first semester; that’s a time for fun and making friends, not stressing over the billion COB classes you have.
