dude, USNews...

I don't understand what's so special about it. I just borrowed the 2005 Guide from the library (I figure 2 years isn't going to change anything but the cost of going to college) and it doesn't really have anything that I couldn't find out easily from online searching. Just a bunch of stats. I wanted actual descriptions of the college and the type of students that go, so I could pick some colleges that appeal to me in some other way. A lot of stats starts to look the same after a while.

Are there books that are like that?

I second college prow ler.com

why is college prow ler.com censored?

No clue. Maybe "prow ler" is on their curse word list?

fiske college guide

Just use the common strategy of people on these boards...their top 20=your top 20 colleges..

Sounds like your head's in the right place op. I realised it a little late, but you really just want a quality school that you will fit in at, not the highest number you can get into

www. s t u d e n t s r e v i e w . com

Princeton Review is also good. I have found Fiske and studentsreview to be very off the mark in terms of accuracy.

out of curiosity, what's wrong with fiske?

Just based on conversations with people at different schools, it seems that Princeton Review and CollegeProwl.er are the most accurate, and Fiske is the least accurate.

i disagree, i don't have experience with c o l l e g e p r o w l e r, but i would say fiske is MUCH more accurate for both of the universities i have attended than princetonreview

princetonreview tends to exaggerate the stereotypes, while fiske gives a better picture of what it's actually like at a given university

Fiske, Colleges that Change Lives, Epinions

Agree. Fiske and College P rowler are better references.

"Choosing The Right College" by ISI. If you filter the right wing agenda (a HUGE portion of it), it actually contains some good information.

As a right-winger, I still don't like "Choosing The Right College." "Colleges that Change Lives" is a good one.

the unofficial, unbiased guide to the 328 most interesting colleges is also a good one

Insider Guide To Colleges is worth reading
