Duke admissions

Whoops, I accidentally posted this under "College Search" first, and I don't know how to delete it.

I was looking checking out the collegeboard school profiles some time ago, and I came across this under Duke:

Very important admission factors:

* Application Essay
* Extracurricular Activities
* Recommendations
* Rigor of secondary school record
* Standardized Test Scores
* Talent/Ability

Considered:

* Alumni Relation
* Geographical Residence
* Racial/Ethnic Status
* State Residency
* Volunteer Work
* Work Experience

*** Academic GPA**

Is it possible that academic GPA isn't very important? Or rather, that it is less important?

class rank is not even there…

That seems almost too good to be true, doesn’t it?

ACADEMIC GPA is the number one factor that is considered. That should never ever be underestimated. EVER! We’re talking Duke here. Just like any other elite college, your GPA is whats going to get you through the first threshold of the admissions process. I wouln’t rely so much on some data provided by collegeboard.

like i said on the other thread, i think cb made a mistake lol

Rigor of secondary school record

That’s very important, and I think what they’re trying to say is that they want good grades in tough classes, not just a high gpa.
