<p>I see this as a good thing. Makes Duke's ranking much more defensible IMO.</p>

<p>I think duke was more surpassed than dropped... a few schools that probably should have been higher before (since US News is purely statistical) now are.</p>

<p>of course... anything at the top of these ratings is so close it doesnt matter anyway. </p>

<p>I think these statistics, in general, are quite meaningless. To try to pigeon hole any school into an exact spot compared to other schools is absurd. You should all check out how these rankings are created. It's pretty nuts.</p>

<p>Honestly, rather than seeing it as "Duke dropped from 5 to 8," I think it's more that Duke was simply surpassed by Stanford, CalTech, and MIT. I still don't think that Penn should be above Duke, personally, but other than that I think (even as a Duke student) that the rankings are actually probably more accurate now than they were before.</p>
