DUKE ED, chances?

I posted this previously, but received little feedback. Please be honest.

I know there are seniors across the country asking similar questions. I also know that no one truly knows the answer. However, I've read a lot of great feedback on this website and I am hoping I can receive the same!

I applied ED to Duke University (Class of 2015). I am on my second visit to the campus and I can't imagine being anywhere else next year. While it feels great to have such a connection with a college, it only increases my anxiety about the admissions process.

In brief:

I attend a private school of 400 students. I am the valedictorian of my senior class and I have a 4.0 unweighted. I have taken several honors courses. However, I have only taken 2 AP courses. I received a 33 on my ACT and I'm awaiting SAT II results.

I am vice president of my senior class as well as a student ambassador. I am a varsity athlete (one season) and work summers. I am secretary of the National Honor Society. In addition, I helped create a nonprofit organization in Uganda. This summer, I visited the hospital we support, and this became the topic of my Common Application essay.

I have small classes (roughly 20 students in each) and I've developed personal relationships with all of my teachers. I believe I have good recommendations. My guidance counselor has also been a great leader in my high school career. She wrote a very compelling personal recommendation on my behalf.

I really hope this isn't overwhelming. I'm trying to give an overview of my application. I know it's hard to grasp who I am based on GPA and standardized test scores. However, do you think I have a good chance of being accepted into Duke? It's the only school I'm truly interested in and I need any input I can get.

Thanks!

SATs? This sounds pretty good but there does not seem to be a super srs activity which requires 10+ hours per week
Low reach IMO

Which state do you live in?

I live in Vermont. I forgot to add awards:

National Honor Society
University of Vermont Green & Gold Scholar
Harvard Award Book

I’m involved in the nonprofit pretty seriously (maybe 5 hours/week)

Any thoughts?

Everything looks pretty solid.

I’m getting nervous as December 10th draws closer. Any other thoughts?

Despite what anyone may tell but I think you will get accepted. you have a 4.0 UW GPA along with a 33 ACT (around 2200 SAT), in addition you have recieved very good awards. Lastly, your applying ED which gives you another boost.

Good Luck, I hope you get in.

Any others? Thank you for your time and input!

Creating a nonprofit organization for Uganda I think is a big aspect, test score is solid, so is gpa/rank, depending on how well your essay was written may play a vital factor. I read somewhere that colleges would rather you express an everyday occurrence rather than something like going to India to build shelters or something like that, but most likely you will get in

Strong candidate, especially coming from VT.

I’m getting very nervous!

bump, anyone?

You have a pretty good shot of getting in, so it’s a high match/low reach. Duke can be a bit random, so we can’t so in for sure. But I hope you get in :)

Please chance back:
