Can anybody give me an overview of frat life at Duke? Who's in them, where do they live, how do they party, do they have good reputations, and how much of a distraction is it from academics?

All I know truthfully is that it's really into the motto of play hard, party hard, so I doubt it's that big of a distraction from academics. If you know how to manage your time and not snort lines at a friends house instead of studying, then you should be fine.
I bet they have good reps since it's seems like a huge part of Duke.

Greek life isn't all the same, things will vary depending on the frat. The main thing if for you to get a realistic idea of what you want out of a frat before rush and to not be blinded by reputations and hearsay.
