Hi! So I'm drafting the optional essay for Duke (about a perspective I bring or experiences I've had to help Duke understand me better-perhaps related to a community you belong to, your sexual orientation or gender identity, or your family or cultural background), and I'm wondering if I'm actually answering the question.

I'm a straight, white female so I don't bring a lot of diversity in most of the aspects they mention (sexual orientation, gender identity, family/cultural background), but I'm writing about an experience I had when I applied to one program, got rejected, applied to another one and found my passion for biochem.

Is this answering the prompt? Rather, is this what the admissions officers are looking for when they ask this prompt?

Thanks for any help!
