<p>Even if your assertion was true (how do you control for quality/interest of applicants?), the OP is interested in biology/engineering. So it is a moot point.</p>
<p>Additionally, I think in many’s mind Ithaca is a better college town than Durham. Maybe not quite Chapel Hill.</p>

<p>Don’t worry about rankings, job/grad school placement, etc. - but any differences are minimal.</p>
<p>Just pick the place that you think that you would be happier at - aka “fit”.</p>
