<p>Hello I am a senior in high school and I am deciding between Duke and Vandy. My first question is is the helicopter noise at Vanderbilt usual or was it just during my tour? After that which college is better? I will get a law degree after college and I want to get into a program that is top 15. I may also want to get an MBA after too. But I am not just concerned with academics as I am also interested in the social life, sports, and other things. I would appreciate all advice.</p>

<p>People say Duke is a northern school in the South. Vanderbilt is a southern school in the South. There is definitely a different culture, it really depends on what you’re looking for and what you prefer.</p>
<p>Duke is the higher ranked school, and has the better reputation. However, the gap between the two schools isn’t large enough so that someone wouldn’t choose Vanderbilt if they really loved the place.</p>

<p>All of our top of the class students who applied to Duke were rejected or waitlisted. The only one who got into Vanderbilt was our highest ranked under represented minority. No one from our school got off the wait list either.</p>
<p>So…apply to more than one school.</p>
