Collegiate Power Rankings | NCSA Athletic Recruiting | NCSA

Recently issued NCSA rankings placed Duke University first among Division I institutions -- as well as all colleges and universities, regardless of NCAA Division -- in its assessment of intercollegiate athletics and scholarship. These rating are based on U S News, graduation rate, and Directors Cup standings. The NCSA's top ten Division I universities were:
1 Duke
2 Notre Dame and Stanford (tied)
4 Princeton
5 Northwestern and Harvard (tied)
7 Yale
8 Dartmouth
9 Cornell
10 Columbia

I do not suggest that the NCSA "power rankings" are perfect or terribly meaningful, but they do provide an indication of substantial excellence in both academics and athletics.
