Duke University Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

I’m not feeling confident about being admitted, but I am so excited for everyone that got likely letters! You have all worked so hard and it is truly paying off and these letters are only a small piece of what is showing it. However, everyone here is going to do great things, likely letter or not, admitted to Duke or not, so let’s all be proud of ourselves. <3

^^^ Do Likely Letters have Tulips?

I believe it is safe to say that the Tulips are not correlated with the submission of test scores, but maybe they could be an early indicator of acceptance (depending on if likelies have them in their portal or not)

Also, everyone got the reminder email today right?

I did. I also got an email on Monday… has anyone not?

Yes, I got the reminder email too. I think everyone did.
I think the tulips are just an aesthetic addition they did with the latest reminder email. I think Duke would have to be pretty careless to let such an obvious indicator leak.

Right true. I just want to see if Duke likelies have them (if they don’t maybe does with them are rejected)

A quick update from the Duke Office of Admissions: the tulips don’t mean sh*t.

Duke is accepting 3-4% of us on Monday. That’s it. Unfortunately.

sad reality…

Didn’t get the second instruction email today. We didn’t get the first either until we emailed Admissions.

Congratulations to all those who got likelies!

Seems like you are just a rare case. Was there anyone who only received an 1 instruction email?

Do we know if the kid who saw an “accept admissions offer” form in his portal got a likely letter?

Seems to be yes

No likely, applied ED - deferred and happened to check portal to see the form

There were two others who didn’t receive the 1st email. Did they receive the second?

According to Duke Admissions, they said that everyone will receive an instructions email “in late march…” so those people may have just had communication issues

However, Duke did not say anything about a reminder email coming out today which is why it would be helpful to know if anyone received the first reminder email (on Monday) but not the second one which was sent out today.

Doesn’t everyone have the tulips? If not, maybe it depends what browser someone is using but I highly doubt it’s a sign of anything.

Unfortunately, people have to realize that most applicants will be denied. That’s unfortunate, but that’s the way it is. I expect my son to be rejected and if he isn’t then I’ll be pleasantly surprised and probably shocked but come on people, it’s Duke. They can’t take everyone. There will still be plenty of acceptances on Monday, but again, the majority of rejections will far surpass the acceptances when you are considering how small of a school Duke is and the number of applications they had this year. 44,500 applied RD + the deferred candidates. Last year they accepted just under 2,200 in RD so if you include students that took a gap year, I would expect there to be less acceptances so slim chances but the few who received early acceptances today and yesterday don’t come close to the 2200 number either. For perspective btw, Duke did take 47 less students in ED this year than for Class of 2025. People need to relax and have fun this weekend and be kids. If not Duke, there are other great schools that are out there.

To those who were accepted already, congratulations on your (or your child’s) achievements. Going to Duke or any other school every parent and senior should be proud of the hard work they put into school and their applications over the past year and all the unknowns they’ve had to deal with.
