Duke University Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

Scroll up a few people did.

A friend of mine was on the faculty there. His church-going habits were part of his annual review, and he was repeatedly told that he needed to join a church sooner rather than later (preferably Baptist). I know they have relaxed some of the religious rules that students had to live by back in the day and I hope they don’t try to run faculty lives anymore either, but for me personally it all seemed overbearing. I realize you are talking about their religion department in an academic sense, but it reminded of some of those stories I used to hear. You definitely have some wonderful choices!

yep

But the grad school has to let you in, so undergrad does matter to them.

What I meant was like it won’t matter to an employer per say. Employers will care more about the grad degree than the undergrad. As long as you go to an accredited four year university and do well academically you can apply to prestigious grad schools and shoot your shot kind of like we’re doing now.

Many grad schools care about where you go to undergrad.

do y’all think international syudents will be at a disadvantage ?

I never said grad schools don’t care about where you go to undergrad. All I’m saying is that employers will usually care more about where you went to grad school than undergrad.

My point was that prestigious grad schools often care about where you went to undergrad and it’s harder to get into if you’re not a top student at some random undergrad school. So even if an employer may only care about where you went to grad school, which is not always the case, to get into that highly sought after grad school, it does matter where you go to undergrad and how you do.

Employers care a lot about the jobs and internships you do while in college and summers, no matter where you attend undergrad

What does the Duke website look like when they tell you you’re accepted?

Not disadvantaged but the competition is extreme. Duke says it accepts 25 int’l students that need financial aid( whether small or significant). Imagine all int’l applicants who also applied for finaid competing for 25 spots.

Is actually the opposite. Your grad degree is far more superior to your undergrad degree.

yeah

and for the ones that didn’t apply for fin aid ?

Well that’s something you should always be doing regardless of where you go to school.

Duke admits record-low 4.3% of regular decision applicants via dukechronicle
