That is not what I said.
Graduate schools care about where you go to undergrad. You’re comparing the two degrees, I am not.
But as @fingerscrossed83 said is also correct. Internships one does during undergrad will matter a lot for jobs as well as to parlay that for graduate school. But also having said that, many students these days don’t go on to graduate school. If you’re in Computer Science for instance, unless you’re getting your PhD a Masters is completely unncessary. If you’re going to medical school your undergrad 100% matters if you want to go to a top medical school, if you’re going to law school, your undergrad also matters tremendously if you want to go to a top law school or even any law school because competition is so fierce. If you want to get your MBA you need to work a few years beforehand for many top programs and your undergrad is going to help you get those jobs that the graduate school will care about unless you’re lucky to have a great network to use or just lucky in general and proven yourself some other way. So ya it matters. On the other hand, if someone has to take out 80k in debt to do it, that is not worth it, because a top student can be top dog at another school. It does not have to be a prestigious school if they can finish at the top of their class which is possible for these super smart people.
Anyway, that’s not this forum so let’s get back on track to the Duke thread.

I mean yeah a grad school isn’t going to blindly accept you in the same way that everyone on this thread isn’t getting into Duke regardless of what high school they went to and their grades, but one hour left though so good luck to everyone.
My S21 (engineering) has acceptances from GT, Michigan, Northeastern honors, VT, and a handful of safeties. He’s very excited about his options thus far with or without Duke so that’s good.
Good luck all!!
BU, Wellesley, University of Miami and University of Rochester
Waitlisted at Syracuse
Haha absolutely. Most people are not getting into Duke! With a 4.3% acceptance rate, that means more than 95% did NOT get in. Not good odds. Did that Duke Chronicle article release waitlist info @NASA2014 ? My kid doesn’t care, but I can’t handle another waitlist. All we have are waitlists or acceptances and one deferral.
FYI the very low acceptance rate and numbers just published. But you still won’t hear for 55 min.
does anyone from the ED round or previous years know if Duke releases a few minutes before 7 or exactly at 7?
reading the duke chronicle gives me more anxiety as an international student needing aid. They’re saying intl applications increased by 43%

I was ED and it was exactly 7

44% of admitted ppl didn’t submit their sat/act ,do you think this links with legacy, minorities, or athletes? (basically ppl who have hooks0
I’m not not nervous but I’m a lot less nervous than I was for Davidson. With Davidson I knew I had a good chance but it was also very real that I could get rejected, so I was very nervous because of expectations. At least for this I have close to 0 expectations.

it said 44% of applicants, not admits

what does this question even mean? What is the connection between “hooks” and people who didn’t submit testing
It would be nice to hear how many they accepted that did submit scores or didn’t like other schools have released that info but they were generally transparent. The international thing is interesting because it tells people that is clearly one of the big things going on with the large increases at other schools in addition to seniors applying to more schools than they typically do which most of us already knew. That transparency is all good news but rough to hear I am sure for a lot of you who are international applicants as that is a shockingly high percentage.
Honestly the admissions are what it is. By far not a measure of success.
Pretty sure athletes have to submit scores regardless. Someone can correct me if I know otherewise, but I thought that was one area where TO was not waived. @Koreanivy
