Hey guys, I’m applying RD to Duke, and I was wondering, how does pursuing pre-med at Duke actually work? Do I apply to the Pratt School of Engineering? Which courses should I take? The Duke website heavily recommends Physics for Pratt, and I’m doing the IB, so I only have HL Bio and Chem. (I haven’t done Physics since 10th grade). Does that ruin my chances of getting in?
Any explanation as to how to apply for pre-med to Duke would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for sounding so clueless.
There is no premeditated major. You can be premeditated with any major, from either Trinity or Pratt, so long as you meet the medical school requirements.
lol *premedical? but yeah do you want to be an engineer or a doctor? apply to pratt if you want to be an engineer. basically if you want to be pre-med, you will be put in the prehealth track at Duke, and they will give you an advisor and help you with the requirements, classes, etc.
Here is a link to the FAQs for Duke’s Office of Health Professions Advising: http://prehealth.duke.edu/faqs/general-questions These answers to questions about pre-med apply to most undergraduate schools.
