which is better?

I am biased because Duke was my first choice and I got rejected, but go there

what do u want to study?

My dilemma exactly. Mostly going JHU because I want to become a doctor and I got into BME. According to people I talked to, Hopkins has the advantage of amazing research facilities as well as studying environment - both important to me.

Johns Hopkins!

HOPKINS..though there is no wrong decison here..

yeah i applied to both and got into hopkins rejected duke, but i wouild have defintiely gone to duke- it depends what your into though- theres more a relaxed social scene at duke, but the pre-med is definitely better at hopkins

I'm actually in the exact same situation as the OP: JHU (BME) and Duke. But why do you say JHU's premed is definitely better? How is it better?

I can't say why Hopkins pre-med is better. But I can say why it's one of the best.

The pre-med professional advising is run by Ronald H. Fishbein, a former Johns Hopkins Hospital surgeon. He was also the former Dean of Admissions at the Hopkins Medical School. He has been given many honors and awards, including Premier Physician Award to associate professor of surgery in 1994. He's come a long way since then, and knows the medical admissions inside and out. If you want the best advising out there, Fishbein can provide it.

Otherwise, it's simple. JHU (Homewood) is right down the road from Hopkins Medical campus and Hopkins Hospital, which are both highest ranking institutions in our nation. This provides amazing research opporunities. Duke does boast well known medical hospitals and universities nearby, but personally I don't think they can compare to Hopkins' prestige.

ah sounds tempting but Im just worried about social life and how people deal with all that pressure

don't want it to be another 4 yrs of hs

your going to do have to do significantly more work at either school than you did in HS, but you will also party significnatly more than you did in HS (more so at duke than jhu, though)

same dilemma here. Accepted into both Duke and JHU, but I'm waiting on Duke's finaid package. JHU gave me a wonderful one.

Well this is an easy question.

Flashback to May 30, 2005. Philadelphia.
Score 11-10.

Well we know who won then, so there your decision is made.

(Sorry, couldn't resist)

oh no Duke lacrosse, it pains me to talk about it

my beloved admissions daniel, perhaps now is a bad time to make references to the duke lacrosse team.

I was actually making a reference to Hopkins lacrosse. It is disappointing what has happened with the duke lacrosse team, but that does not stop us from rooting on our team and being proud of our National Championship win last year. You will learn that in Baltimore, Lacrosse is the most popular sport and the seasons for Hopkins, Towson, Loyola, and the rest goes on.
