Hi guys I’m looking to ED to a school next year and I’m trying to decide between the three above. I have decent grades and I am interested in either economics or marine biology. I want to play club basketball and baseball and maybe debate. I’m interested in Greek life. Also, I’m from NY. Which school should I ED to?
.
if you think you have a good shot for all three, research/(try to) visit all three schools, decide which you’d enjoy the most if you went there and would be best for your interests/career. it’s all about fit
Yep – before you apply ED, visit all three. Also do plenty of reading about grad requirements, ease of getting into and out of majors, academic calendar, social vibe, research and internship opportunities, party scene, etc. The three schools also obviously have different climates and are in different cities, so figure out which location/weather combo you like best.
And, of course, there’s cost. Run the NPC on all three to figure out which would likely cost the least for you and your family.
Thanks guys. I have visited all three and I’m still trying to decide.
All three take a large percentage of their class ED. There is a lot of overlap in applications between the schools. Do you have a hook anywhere? If you have access to Naviance look at the early and regular admission rates for the past few years applicants at all 3 schools from your high school. If you are a huge basketball fan, Cameron is hard to beat. And has great baseball. All 3 usually get beat up on the football field.
Vanderbilt has great baseball–autocorrect got me above.
Thanks Houston1021. I really liked the sports and community feel at Duke. Nashville is a cool place and everyone seemed very nice at Vandy. I like how Northwestern encourages students to explore interests. Also Chicago and Evanston are great. I like college sports, especially football and basketball, so Duke and NU have those. Do you know how much of Southern culture is present in Vandy? I hear that it is very Southern with traditions like dressing up for football games. I found Duke to be somewhat of a middle ground between NU and Vandy.
