How do you think Duke's prestige measures up to the Ivy League and other top colleges and how do you think it will affect their yield this time around.

**Unconfirmed, biased prestige levels according to me:/B

HYPSM > Brown/Columbia/Dartmouth/Penn/Duke > Georgetown/Chicago/Washington University/Northwestern/Cornell.

Admittedly, Georgetown's international relations prestige is more than many of the schools I list above it. This exercise is somewhat stupid, all of them are very prestigious and they're all great schools. And the difference in perceived "prestige" is not that great - it will not make a significant difference in opportunities down the road. In fact, studies have shown that similar students (based on their high school records) who attend public universities vs. elite private universities typically end up with similar job offers/graduate acceptances, etc.

Duke's yield will go down slightly, I predict, since Harvard + Princeton eliminated early decision, so many those people that would have been accepted early also applied to Duke.

bluedog, that's what I thought at first too, but then looking at how many applicants the ivies rejected this year...I wouldn't be surprised if Duke fills up pretty quickly.
