Is it better to transfer from a CC/2yr or a 4 yr college?

I'm afraid that by going the CC route I'll lose out on the fun/campus life of 4yr college even if I'm just gonna be there for two yrs.

CC’s are cheaper of course, but if you have a choice of a decent 4 year theres no comparison (but if you’re commuting anyway I’d go with CC actually)

better transfer from CC.

you might/might not lose out on campus life.
but thats what friends are for? lol

i’m a firm believer that anyone who is not an ivy league or upper tier college candidate should always go to CC. Minimizes costs, and since you get your gen eds out of the way it really is beneficial

Can’t you achieve that in a 4th tier liberal arts school? What if cost isn’t an issue? Certainly the rigor and prestige of a 4-year-school is greater to some extent. I don’t mean to challenge you; I’m just wondering what you think.

The schools I’m talking about is UCONN or Embry Riddle.

I go to school in daytona beach, and I have several friends who go to embry (of course if you’re talking about their daytona beach campus) and its not worth the amount of money if you’re just gonna transfer. Better off with uconn or cc

Yeah, I agree it would’ve been stupid to go to Daytona beach to pay 38K just to transfer, but I hate CT.

Guess I’ll just deal with it another two years until I can transfer to UMDCP. Atleast I’ll have friends I know over there.

Don’t start at a 4-year school unless you know you will be happy there if the transfer is unsuccessful. If you are positive that you would want to transfer out of college X, you are better off to go to the community college.

What if money isn’t an issue (meaning you have a full ride at some 4th tier city commuter college)? My plan is to work really, really hard to transfer to a top school. Wouldn’t my plan to maximize resources be slightly worse at a CC?

If the full ride makes it less expensive (or only marginally more expensive) than the CC, then start at the 4-year institution instead. Do your best, and perhaps you will be able to transfer up in a year or two. Even if you decide to stay put for four years, you can still make a big success of your life.
I just don’t want to have regets after doing this. I mean a two yr Engineering Degree gets me nowhere, and if transfering fails I would’ve lost the good chance of going to a good 4yr college.

BPT may be boring but Storrs might be ten times better. Since I’ll have friends and will make friends during the summer I’ll survive. I’m still hoping with all my might that I can transfer to a higher up school.
