Well, I narrowed my choices down to Wharton and Duke. Now, what plagues my decision is location, location, location. Obviously, Wharton is academically superior for the business world, but the city of Philadelphia (atleast in my opinion) is not at par with what I am used to: Atlanta. However, Durham’s atmosphere is much more comforting and beautiful like Atlanta’s. On top this, as an ardent Braves and Falcons fan, I cannot see myself in the lair of the enemy. LOL. Comments and opinions would be appreciated regarding the two locations.

P.S. Placing more value on my future, I will probably end up rooting for the fighting quakers come this fall (No, not the hopeless Phillies or the overrated Eagles).

ahh... i'm making the same choice (except the college and duke) -- coming from a small beautiful town, i'm also wondering about the difference going to a big city... I'd also appreciate some input. Thanks :)

you two can't be serious. philly is not that bad and durham is not that good. from an academic point of view i don't think duke compares to upenn.

I lived in Durham and I now live in Philadelphia! How great for you all! Anyways, it's like this: Philadelphia is a great city. Trust me. You will feel so at ease here. Durham is also a great place however there is far less to do and that's a pretty far less. Penn is just wonderful and you all know that so the choice isn't that difficult. GO PHILLY and PENN!

[rant]dude, don't call the Eagles overrated. The overrated Eagles tore your falcons a new one in the NFC Championship game last year if you remember correctly. If anyone is overrated, it is Vick right now. Your bleeping city can't even support your sports teams. The Braves can't even sellout playoff games. Give me a break. [/rant] - From Philly

Mrhappyface- the philies suck. theres no comparison with the braves. ask anyone in the nation and they will tell you they would much rather watch the falcons play any given sunday than the eagles. as for whos the better team, the igles are comin down to the dome next season- home game 8 for the falcons.
as for smadans- im a HUGE falcons fan and ive been in the A all my life...but i got into huntsman and im definately going up to phily. in fact, i already ordered my falcons cold weather gear- gotta represent ESPECIALLY in phily.
but seriously, wharton is a much better choice than duke, i wouldnt even think about that one, go with penn.

It was just a bit weird to see a post titled "Durham vs. Philly" for someone from Durham who is going to Penn next year...each definitely has its ups and downs, but I'm looking forward to a change of scenery. I know this is the Penn forum, but if you have any specific Durham questions, I can probably answer them.

GGGGunit, do you go to the Marist School; I think I may know you.

Anyways, Wharton is obviously the better choice, but the Braves and the Falcons will continue to retain my loyalty. Plus, I can see another round in the playoffs for Braves and another terrible (I mean TERRIBLE) season for the Phillies.

The phillies will probably win around 86 games, that seems like popular expert opinion. That's not TERRIBLE. I'm not here to say it is good though. However, making the playoffs means nothing. The Braves always play, with nobody even in their stadium, and lose. They're better than the Phillies, but don't talk like they're the Yankees.

GGGunit - The falcons do not draw better ratings than the eagles. Don't give me that. Atlanta is a horrible sports town. Before vick came along, the falcons merchandise sales were literally like $8,000 per year (from sporting news). I don't even think they're still selling out that dome. What a joke.

mrhappyface- you have a right to criticize braves fans about attendance, but the dome is always sold out in the vick era. phily fans, i agree, are more serious about sports than atlanta fans, but that does not apply universally.

ps- braves are playing the phillies on the 15th (huntsman day) so hopefully ill be there.

Ha, another major rivalry develops; GGGGunit, I go to Woodward. War Eagles >>>>>>>> Wild Cats. Just kidding. Anyways, do you happen to know Imran (he was branded a traitor as soon as he left Woodward at the end of Middle School)?

Regarding attendance, so what Braves fans are a little miserly; we are so used to our team getting to playoffs each and every year for the last 13 years that we mainly head out to Turner Field when they reach the NLCS or when the NL East is a very tough fight. However, almost every Georgian diehardly supports the Braves even though they may not attend many games.

While i'm not completely familiar with Durham, I would say Philly is amazing.. i'm from long island, which is completely suburbia, and I found it incredibly easy to adjust to living in Philly.. plus, campus is kind of enclosed in a way (you don't have classes half way across the city) and the main part of campus is closed off from traffic, so you really do get a suburban campus feel.. but once you're sick of suburban, you have philly right next door and all the wonderful things it has to offer. :)
