DVD Burner

Let's say I download a 699 MB movie off Limewire. The resolution is good (not someone filming the movie inside a movie theater) to the point where I have the movie on "full screen" on my computer and the resolution is very crisp. Then I want to burn this movie onto a dvd. I want to be able to watch this dvd on a real dvd player connected to my tv. Would the resolution be bad because my tv is obviously bigger than my computer so would the image be streched out? Do I need to convert the movies into a special format so I can watch in on a dvd player? thanks!

If it looks good on your computer, it'll probably look good on the TV. Go buy Nero and read follow their instructions for burning to a DVD.

what movie?

40 year old virgin, euro trip, wedding crashers

It shouldn't look too bad, because I personally have burned DVDs of downloaded tennis matches, and they were fine.

I second the Nero recommendation, because it is an all-in-one package and does not require too much expertise.

But if you are downloading movies off Limewire to burn to DVD, just download larger files using BitTorrent to guarantee high quality.

^^agreed

chunlin, ever heard of DAEMON tools? great program....

Actually, I was using it but moved to Alcohol 120%. I think it was b/c Alcohol gives you more drives...

I've heard tons about Alcohol, but i'm still using DAEMON...I've never used Alcohol b/f

what do you use for your torrents?

I started with Azureus, but the memory usage was huge, and I had to mess around with the port settings too much. So I switched to BitComet, and it's been going great.

The problem with BitComet I hear (keyword...this is hear-say) is that you lose control with it. For example, with Azureus, you can choose what specific song to DL for a CD or even just the cover. I'm not sure if you can do port configuration with BitComet either...

In my previous post, I was referring to what website...torrentspy or isohunt or piratebay or another maybe?

BTW, if you don't know, MPAA is suing ISOHunt and Torrentspy now

Well, I wanted to stop having to mess around with ports so much, and that's why I went to BitComet. But I still have the option of configuring the ports. And the problem you heard is totally false. I can right-click on a torrent and choose the properties, where there are check boxes for each file you want to download.

I actually have found that public trackers are not as fast for me, since there is no seeding requirement, so I am a member of a few private sites where I have to keep my ratio up. TVTorrents is awesome for TV shows, and TorrentLeech has a mixture.

do u need to convert ur downloaded movies to a special format in order for the DVD PLAYER to read them once they are put into the dvd player?

yes, but programs such as Nero and Roxio automatically do that

^oh ok. i havent used those programs yet.

i finally bought an external dvd burner. it came with nero so i didnt have to buy it separately. when i try to add videos to the dvd using nero for some movies it says "can not be added". why is that? is it the file under which it is that the dvd burner wont read?

also how long does it take to put 60 minutes of movie on a dvd?

There are tons of reasons for this. One may be that you're in the wrong DVD mode in Nero. Another could be the DVD media you are using and the compatability with the DVD burner. Research DVD+R and DVD-R and figure out which one your DVD burner and your DVD player support. In addition, the video could be too large and could have ocurred when the file was uploaded. We need more specifics...what exactly did you buy and what is the exact error message and what steps did you take to get to where you are?
