I have always thought of E 10 as a very easy class and I am thinking about taking it in the Spring. There are only three professors teaching it but only two names are revealed, Johnson and Seed. Im taking Chem 1A right now and it is hard enough with busy work. A student currently taking the IEOR module says the class is very hard and a lot of busy work. Is it the same for Spring? I am only taking Chem 1a, math 1a, and r5a. I am stressed out and I don't want to die next semester.

i am also taking e10, and i have in conflict with math1b so i cant take it with the prof starting with R*.

I signed up with Johnson, but i am not sure if i should take it with him.
What’s your situation?

According to pickaprof, Seed gives more As, but i just don’t have much info

the only thing that matters is which modules you select. Each module is graded by the respective professors/gsi so grading is fair. the grade distribution is the same for the class in general. I took the MSE and CE modules. MSE deals with grain size analysis. The labs are probably the most tedious and lab reports suck but it was very interesting and the material is not difficult. CE dealt with water filtration. Everything is done in groups and the workload is very light. ME deals with a wind turbine. I heard this was very interesting and ME was actually my second choice but I didn’t get into that module. IOER basically sucks, sorry IOER majors. Almost no one I talked to took any interest in the material being taught.

Basic outline of E10:

First week is general engineering lectures. These are with the guy you sign up with.
You vote for the modules you want the most, and are basically guaranteed to get two out of your top three. I’ve never heard of anyone getting their last choice.

Then you have six weeks of module one (there’ll be 1-2 gen eng lectures in that as well).

Then you have six weeks of module two (there’ll be more gen eng in there as well).

Then a bit of gen eng, review time, and then final exam.

Module breakdown:
IEOR = If you’re a decent analytical thinker, this is fun and easy (stimulation level varies inversely with ease). Somewhat reminiscent of programming; if you enjoy the problem-solving side of programming, this will be fine. Lectures aren’t exceptionally interesting, though.

MSE = Amazing lectures, horrific labs. The final exam segment isn’t horrible, but I’m glad I got to drop it (one of the buildings didn’t open on-time this semester for the final, so we go to drop a module section on the exam).

CE above.

ME looked reasonably easy.

No idea why r8sratnb says “IOER basically sucks.” I’d also be hesitant to trust the word of someone who misspells the name twice.
