e-mail

is it true we get our u chicago emails may 16th?? everyone else from other schools have gotten them

That's what I have heard. . .

its on the website, may 16 is correct -- if they keep their promise. it says something about needing your social security number to log in. if you don't that, you have to wait until you get your i.d. in the mail.

FINALLY my college facebook awaits.

im having trouble making up my i.d.

cookiemonkey1004@uchicago.edu sounds a tad bit silly.

jisookyim@uchicago.edu sounds a tad bit boring.

ahhhh

i would think that putting your real name in part of it would be smart considering you would be using this email for school ... and you might regret doing something (a tad bit) silly later.

yep thats why im steering away from my beloved ID taht is used for every internet-possible thing on the web.
bleh!!!

yeah, i desperately want to invoke something pirate-y in my name ... because paired with the name "uchicago" it would be amazing.

but ... i might go with something simple and obnoxious like "katethegreat," lol.

8 character maximum.

nooooooooo, thats horrible!

they can't limit my creativity like that, it knows no bounds!

argggg!

WHAT
this sucks like oxen balls :(

Rice allows you to create three "aliases" for your e-mail. So you can have one that is a tad silly, one that is a tad boring, and another that is... well... I do not know... spooky?

Hah. Yeah, I am still deciding between the two schools:(

Only eight characters? Oh no!! I want to do my whole name. bullery@uchicago.edu sounds silly.

At least they let you pick your username. Some colleges assign them. I regret not choosing a more interesting name now, though.

I already have one from the summer session I did last year but, courtesy of my sister, I am now getting about 30 spam messages a day at that address. So, I look forward to a new one. My address now is my first initial and my last name, but I was thinking that my new one should be my nickname, which I like, though it is not very professional-sounding.

When my S was picking his email username, I asked him why it was taking him so long to find one. He replied that he wanted to pick something he would be happy with 3 years from then as it does not get changed for the duration.

Does sim@uchicago.edu sound good? lol

I think that first initial, last name is always a good bet. It looks professional, and it won't change while you're at Chicago (unless you get married!).

well, now that you mention it brooke....I did plan on proposing to you during our sophmore year.

Come to think of it, "Esquared" contains the maximum eight letters for a UC e-mail address. His alias could continue for the next four years. :)

yes.....and if i never reveal myself, I could be the phantom student of UChitown, who is simply dubbed "Esquared" and who may or may not actually exist.
