I have seen a few pictures of mail students are receiving from the University of Chicago with their first name typed in the typical font used to write "UChicago" on other letters they've sent out in the past. I, however, am yet to receive anything like this. Should I be worried? This is my dream school and I really don't want to think they passed over me when deciding who to send mail to.

I wouldn’t worry. They send a lot of mail out to 17 year olds, many of whom have no chance at a school like UChicago. Just sign up to be on their mailing list. Really not that hard to do. Quit worrying!

I get a lot of mail from some of the ivies (I don’t recall signing up to be on their mailing lists) and I know I have little to no chance getting in there. Receiving mailings probably doesn’t mean much. Then again, I don’t work in admissions, so take everything I say with a grain of salt. Actually, take everything you see on CC with a grain of salt UNLESS it’s coming from an actual admissions officer (and there are some on here and they are more helpful than any random poster).

But yeah, the mailing with the first name written in the school’s font is awesome. Hung up mine in my room.

I never got anything from them before I applied and I was admitted, so I wouldn’t worry :)

I received mine today

I got mine today as well! Don’t worry if you don’t receive one. I know several students that never received mail and they were accepted into UChicago and many other colleges.

The mail means absolutely nothing relating to admissions.

you should be worried. It means you won’t get in.

My daughter got one, and lots of other marketing material, but didn’t get in. Her sister has been paying attention to the mail, though, and just started her application essay for next fall’s applicant pool.
