E-mails from departments?

Hello,

Yesterday I received emails from the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and from the heads of the departments in which I showed interest as potential majors. They mostly described the advantages of studying at Oberlin and why I should consider choosing them and also urged me to contact them if I had any questions. Has anyone else received such a thing? Is it another marketing scheme?

refer to rd threads. i think everyone gets them. not a marketing scheme, but class that most other schools do not have. i got that and an email today from the dean of the college of arts and sciences.
