Please help out and tell me how much of a shot i have in getting into U Chicago?
Reply back asap people.thanks for the help in advance.

I’m sorry to say, but it looks like your chances are somewhat minimal.
UChicago is not need-blind in terms of admissions for international students, and since you need $30, 000, your chances aren’t looking quite as hot.

However, I still encourage you to apply-should you get in, they will meet 100% of need regardless of whether or not you’re international.

I thought UChicago was need-blind for Canada as well as US students. I can’t remember where I read that on the website, but it does say that on collegeboard’s UChicago finacial aid info page.

Hey HonorsCentaur,no problem man at least you are being honest
But are you saying it because i am asking for roughly $30000 financial aid or because you think my profile isn’t good enough?it’s okay i want an honest review :).Plus, any tips on how i can improve my application?

i have to agree with Alliere i also read that U Chicago is need blind for Canadian citizens so i thought i would come under the need blind category :S

If its your dream school then apply right away!
You never know what to expect!

A friend of mine (international student) applied and got in with 51k aid
Your SATs look very good ECs are extraordinary ( congrats on the awards)
One small problem could be small course load (6 subjects in O levels doesn’t sound like much)
However note that for U Chicago your essays matter a lot so make sure you write some really good stories!

Oh sorry if I’m wrong. If so, please disregard what I said and apply! hehe
good luck

haha no problem Honors.and Darthspawnus, haha thanks a lot i also forgot to add the outstanding diplomacy award at WORLD MUN Singapore so yeah :D.btw if i retook some of my O’Levels and gave like 10 or 11 of them i’m pretty sure i can get A*s in them.do you think giving them again will help?Reply back asap and thanks guys! :)

Retaking your O’s ?

If you are sure then you can always do that but I have no idea about it sorry
And your awards look very good

If you can show you have a very good secondary school record and as I said rock your essays you are good to go

So basically:-
1.Improve O’Level grades.
2.Show a good transcript(whoch i have)
3.Write kick as essays
and i have a good shot? :)

What’s with the super low O-level grades?

Anyway, write good essays and be prepared to justify the low O-levels and you’re golden. The College is indeed need-blind for Canadians.

Haha thanks man.specific family issues ****ed up my O level grades.btw talking of justifying.can you really justify your grades?

If these are super serious family problems we’re talking about, and you feel that these problems meant that your grades don’t actually reflect your ability, then you can include a paragraph in your apps explaining it. What’s your GPA?

We don’t have a GPA
Plus I’m home schooled.would that effect my chances too?I can show them the internal family reasons why my O’Levels performance dipped though.

As long as you can show them why your O-Levels dipped (that wasn’t academic in nature), I don’t think being home-schooled should be a problem. If you nail the essays and present yourself appropriately, you should have a great chance. Apply EA, definitely. Is UChicago definitely, 100% your first choice?

Yeah man it’s definably my first choice that’s why I’m applying for early action
Can anyone tell me if there are any other college where i can apply for admission?places where i would have a really good shot of getting in?

… Well, a student like you would get in at the majority of colleges.

would i get into colgate?

Well, the application process is never so black and white, but I guess it’s likely if you put the same work into your essays.
