Hey guys, new user here. After browsing the forums for a while, I was wondering how I would realistically stack up to other applicants. I am also applying EA.
My GPA isn’t that good (3.7ish unwieghted, I messed around a lot sophomore year) , but I had a pretty rigorous schedule all four years, graduating with 11 AP classes, a SUPA writing class, and a bunch of honors classes.
Pulled a 34 on the ACT,and took one last Saturday, so hopefully I go up to a 35.
I have a lot of extracurriculars (but only 1 semi-leadership position) and a bunch of community service
I think my LoR will be pretty good, as I asked teachers whose classes I excelled in and talked a lot.
The GPA is a concern, but everything else looks terrific. Particularly that 34 on the ACT. That’ll help. It also helps that you were taking challenging classes. If your AP scores are a bunch of 4s and 5s…I’d say your chances are pretty decent. If your weak year was sophomore year and you’ve showed a steep uptrend on your grades…it will help.
ok, thanks a bunch for the input!
marygj, is an 80ish to around a 90 average from sophomore to junior year a steep uptrend?
Sounds like excellent progress in the right direction to me. Good luck!
