That is interesting… EA notifications are only supposed to get out by the end of January.
Can you get deferred from EA? Or are deferrals just an ED thing?
Yes. If you are deferred from EA your application is automatically considered for regular decision later on
Were any other EA decisions released???
@mydadtrollsthis Are you sure she said that she applied EA? Most likely she applied ED.
Is there any possibility of decisions being released today? Some people seem to think so, but it seems unlikely on a Sunday.
No decisions today @20182022. Relax and enjoy the last day of the year!
@TomSrOfBoston I asked her if she applied ED but she said no, EA. It looks like in past years some EAs did hear back before Christmas but most occurred around Jan 15th.
@mydadtrollsthis No, in past years all the decisions have come out on one day - in mid December. They changed the date this year, but no one should have heard back yet.
I heard I can submit my December ACT scores and Northeastern would update my application. Is this true? And if yes, I sent them when I took the test (but they take forever) so should I pay and have them sent again from the website?
@orangewindow Did you apply EA or RD?
This is only a guess, but since EA decisions will be out in 2 or 3 weeks, I would imagine applications have already been reviewed. Only applications that are on the bubble of acceptance/deferral will be considered once they take a look at the EDII applications.
If you applied RD, I would not pay to send them if you requested they be sent to Northeastern when you took the test. I would send an email to your admissions counselor, tell him/her that you took the test in December and ask if the score has been received yet.
Actually @20182022 - if you look at this thread from last year
you’ll see a few folks that say they were deferred EA prior to Christmas. They even ask @TomSrOfBoston some questions last year. It would almost make sense if they did defer some folks early to give them the option of applying EDII just in case they didn’t get in ED somewhere else.
See one example below…

@TomSrOfBoston Hi Tom, I was deferred EA and was wondering when should I hear back from regular decisions? I was also wondering if I should travel to Boston and visit northeastern to show my interest? Is legacy a hook for RD? So many questions, Sorry!!
@mydadtrollsthis Yes. Last year the website said that EA decisions would be released by December 31st. They were released about December 15th. This year Northeastern has changed things. The website says EA decisions will be released by February 1.
If you are deferred EA/ED anywhere you have to wait until RD decisions come out.
Thank you @TomSrOfBoston. That does help. I’m not sure why she said deferred from EA but maybe she was talking about another school and I thought she was talking about Northeastern.
In either case we EAs will be hearing soon. Thanks.
Anyone here applying for Politics Philosophy + Econ?
I just want to say that PPE is an amazing major and despite the small size of the department here I couldn’t speak more highly of specifically the Philosophy department.
hey does anyone know when EA decisions come out? it says by feb 1 but I’m guessing it’ll be earlier
Nobody but NEU admissions knows. In the past, decisions are released a week or so early. One can only hope they come out earlier.
Could decisions be released this thursday/Friday or is more likely to be next week or even the next week?
I honestly think that it is too soon to expect something this week. We still have a while to go till the official notification date.
