EA Class of 2023 - Wooster

EA decision out for my D19. Just came out at like 1am. Accepted with 30k/year. Happy family. Good luck everyone.

Congrats folks! My DS did the common app and submitted 11/11 so I expect it will be a while. But
we were thinking it would be 12/31, so maybe earlier now? Exciting times!

Congrats everyone! Gives me comfort that they’re at least starting to trickle in.
Nothing here yet. S birthday is tomorrow… would be a nice bday present as this would be his first decision & he won’t hear from his other early school for another several weeks.

Oh, and my S submitted 10/17 on the portal. However his GC didn’t submit until the deadline. S also submitted new ACT scores at the deadline… so who knows.

My D submitted early October on the common app but GC and LORs did not turn in until 10/31. Scholarship is $26,000/yr. Hoping lots of others hear today- Happy Thanksgiving!

I take it back, DS said his last ACT scores came out almost 2 weeks past the deadline. He says he’s not concerned at all, but I’m wearing my COW sweatshirt for luck & he just emerged from his Hobbit Hole wearing his as well! LOL

I’m just curious about the in state vs out of state applicants. How many of your are from Ohio? We are from Maryland and I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around my son going to Ohio for college. But he hasn’t applied to any schools in Maryland.

My son applied right before the deadline, and also submitted materials for the music performance scholarship. I wonder if that will delay hearing from them. Are they rolling admissions?

We are currently living on the Northshore suburbs of New Orleans, but will be moving to god-knows-where after S graduates this spring as DH retires from USMC.
However, S is a legacy so we know alot about the school & the area. DH & I are both graduates as are both of our siblings. And I’m from about an hour away from Wooster. Ohio is lovely in the fall, particularly. Spring can be very wet, but the last few weeks of class are gorgeous. Winter… well… winter does kinda suck! LOL But they do an AWESOME job of keeping the sidewalks clear on campus. And I lived all the way on the north side of campus my FY with most of my classes either at Kauke or Scovel. So there were plenty of opportunities for me to bite it if they didn’t do such a great job.

My son was EA via the Common App

Did people receive an email telling you there was an update? Or did you just check your portal and see your decision. Mine still not out yet  I submitted in late October.

My son received an email that told him the portal was updated. So he checked the portal. They did make an error in his scholarship but within the hour of viewing it we received another email with the correction.

My daughter applied. We’re from Canada ??.

I got in last night with a 31k a year scholarship. I found out through the physical mail and it doesnt seem like my portal has been updated yet.

@Kona2012 We live in Northern California. The closest school my D applied to is a 1.5 hour plane ride away. She wants to be somewhere cold, where it snows. It’s her #1 requirement. Go figure. I’m hoping going to college somewhere cold makes her appreciate - and want to return to - the perfect climate in which she’s been raised. ?

@loganace when did you apply to COW?

@Kona2012 Thought I’d jump in to give you a current student’s perspective to let you know there are actually not many Ohioans at Wooster! Of course, there are a good amount, making up around 30% of the student body which leaves roughly 70% from 43 different states. Going from Wooster’s given statistics 15% of students are international (my roomie since first-year is Vietnamese and one of my significant others was from China) and are represented from 59 countries (and it shows!)

I’m from a 10-hour drive away in the Greater New York City area, and I never thought I would go as far as Ohio, but in all honesty, it was the best decision I have ever made for myself. Not only was it the best choice financially, but it taught me a lot about being independent and forced me to do a lot of “adulting” which seems terrifying, but with modern technology, in worst case scenarios, I can always FaceTime a parent or search Google. Going farther from my comfort zone pushed me to a point where I never thought I would be, and it’s something my parents and I value a lot (even though they miss me a lot :frowning: , there are still breaks! Just got back from Thanksgiving Break and I only have 18 days left until my next break.)

I applied a few weeks before the EA deadline, and the admissions packet said something along the line of “since you applied before the deadline we’ll tell you before the deadline”.

My daughter was accepted with a great scholarship offer! She is very excited!

Congrats!
We are still waiting to hear for S. I have a feeling it’ll be another week or 2
