Hello there,

I was wondering if anybody knew when early action decisions will be coming out. Caltech said they will be sent out by December 15th on their website, but I've noticed that - over the years - most decisions have been e-mailed on December 12th at noon Eastern Time (judging by CC posts).

Is this a reliable pattern? Will it hold for international students (like myself) too this year? I see no reason why it shouldn't if it's by e-mail, but us internationals are subject to different rules a lot of the time.

On a somewhat separate note, I had received an e-mail from Caltech a month or so back (after submitting my EA) saying that I had no missing materials. However, I got an e-mail last Wednesday saying I still had to send a certain financial aid form within a day (even though I indicated that I do not require financial aid, the form apparently has to be sent in by all international applicants). I didn't know this form had to be sent as it wasn't mentioned elsewhere, but I got it in through fax and e-mail (to be doubly safe!) the very next day (which was ASAP considering 8 hour time differences). Caltech acknowledged that it has been received.

However, I find it a bit odd that they're still deliberating on my decision, especially as I submitted my supplement by October 20 or so (I sent research materials slightly later but before November 1, but that was it). Is the late submission of this form sufficient grounds for deferring my decision, so they can fully consider it in March (instead of rushing right now)? Is it likely that my decision will be deferred purely since it's being considered so late? As I understand it, deferral doesn't work like this. But then again, I am an international student.

Thank you for your time.
