im confused about the difference between EA/ED
how are they different??
does it give an advantage to students other than relieving stress later?
can you apply to more that one school when you are applying for EA/ED???
thanks in advance

Early Action deadlines are nonbinding. This means that you don't have to withdraw all your other apps. if you are accepted. It's more student-friendly, b/c you can apply to more than one place EA.

Early decision deadlines are binding, son you MUST withdraw your apps. from all the other schools you applied to unless you have a REALLY good reason otherwise (family can;t afford it, etc.) You can only apply to one school ED.

With both EA/ED plans, you will be at an advantage becasue it signals to the adcons that you are serious about the school.

Also, some schools have SCEA (single choice early action). This means that you cannot apply to any other colleges EA or ED, but you may apply to others in the RD round.

what are the usual deadlines for EA/ED for most schools???
btw thanks for the info

It really depends on the individual school. Usually the EA/ED deadlines fall around Nov. 1, Nov. 15, Dec. 1, Dec. 15, Jan. 1, Jan 15, Feb 1, Feb 15. For each college profile on Collegeboard.com, check the "Deadlines" page.
