What are the acceptance rates for Early Action/Decision and Regular Decision at Yale? The reason I am asking is because I heard that since Harvard and Princeton do not offer EA, then most just apply EA at Yale because it makes no difference to them. Therefore, the Yale EA acceptance rate is much lower than RD because they want to prevent those kids who don't really care from entering. Is this true at all? It was just something I heard, and I would like some clarification...

Not at all true.

[Yale Daily News - Regular-decision acceptance rate rises](http://www.yaledailynews.com/articles/view/28467)

Don’t let the higher acceptance rates deceive you, though. Many of the top applicants apply to Yale EA and get accepted (and rightly so).

Yale’s EA acceptance rate this past year was about 13.4%, while RD was about 5.5%. But, even though the EA rate is higher, there are more qualified applicants in that pool. I think EA would still make it “easier” (note the quotes, it’s not easy at all) to get in, but not by much (despite what the acceptance rates may show).

BTW, nice 1984 reference with your location, rockermcr.
