EA for Yale

I have been thinking about applying EA for Yale, but I read on their website that it "does not increase the likelihood of being admitted to Yale" (<a href="http://admissions.yale.edu/faq/single-choice-early-action#t184n1814">http://admissions.yale.edu/faq/single-choice-early-action#t184n1814</a>).
Is this true? Should I still apply EA?

You’d supersede Yale’s own advice in lieu of strangers? If you search here: <a href=“Yale University - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/</a></p>

you’ll see that most people believe Yale’s advice.

My son applied SCEA because it was his first choice, knowing that it probably would have zero effect on his acceptance. He was accepted, and the reward for EA was that he had a much calmer time his senior year than some of his classmates.

as someone who got in EA, I honestly do think it helps your chances ever so slightly. Especially in certain situations e.g. strong STEM applicant

But if you’re a really strong STEM applicant, it might be beneficial to wait until RD in the faint hope of an invitation to YES-W because they definitely parade you around campus and treat you like royalty. And you get the admit weekend experience with very few other prefrosh on campus. YES-W was definitely a big factor in me choosing Yale over Stanford.

@jpmcastj‌ There are about 400 students in my grade and I doubt more than 5 will apply EA to Yale.

Only good thing for certain about SCEA is that if you get in you have a great Christmas holiday because your college search is behind you. Also, chances are you will not have to complete any other applications.

Would you please expand your description of YES-W? Also, would you (or other readers) chance this student:
Current Junior at underserved public school. Current schedule AP Bio, AP Calc I, AP US History, AP English, AP Physics. Johns Hopkins CTY Intensive Studies program. Current GPA 4.0 Rank 1 ACT 34 (first took as sophomore prior to studying Trig and with Writing of 8, plans to retake this year), ExtraC: mostly leadership: Eagle Scout (still active as Sr. Patrol Leader), Freshman Class President, current President of School Student Council, Superintendent Advisory Council, Pres and Founder of Chemistry Club with focus on Green Chemistry, won state and attended national competition for Technology Student Association (CAD). Thanks for any help and advice. He had not considered Yale for science and engineering, his interests, until he discovered the Green Chemistry Institute. Thanks!

YES-W was described in the Yale Daily News here:
