EA too risky for these stats?

Hi all- please help decide…
3.67 uw gpa/4.20 w -very good/competitive public hs in NJ
32 ACT
2 Varsity sports for 4 years
NHS
Lots of volunteering
Summer job
2 clubs
No hooks
No plans to play sports in college
White female
Nothing(stats) will change between EA round and RD but too risky to apply
EA with these stats?

EA is not too risky.
But if your heart is really set on BC (as you say it is in your other post), have you thought about an SAT/ACT prep course between now and next October. Lifting your ACT score would help.

It is difficult for anyone to comment on your EA risk without knowing details about your sports, volunteering, clubs, jobs, and most important, who were you in all those activities. How did the activity benefit from your participation?

Boston college needs a higher score than 32?

I didn’t say that. I suggested trying to lift the 32 to something higher to help improve bclove’s chances.

Every year when I read the decisions threads for BC, I’m amazed seeing so many with ACTs higher than 32 getting rejected, as well as many with lower than a 32 getting accepted.

Looking at the BC factbook, I see a 32 (or the SAT equivalent) is on the high end of the 50% range of acceptances. It’s definitely acceptable.

Ok, I was just curious if the mid 50 percentile falls above 32. I could not find the common data set for BC.

Shooting for a 33 on ACT when take in June - but what about the gpa for EA? too low?
This is my number 1 choice and don’t want to risk anything ! Don’t want to be waitlisted.
So nervous…

BClove, you wouldn’t necessarily move from EA directly to the waitlist. You might get deferred to regular decision. What does your guidance counselor think? Since you’re from a competitive high school in NJ, it’s plausible that BC has an admissions officer visit the school. Your counselor probably has a good idea where your stats figure in with alumni from your high school who have gotten into BC. Good luck!

primarily depends on your class rank. ~90% of all Frosh matriculants were in the top decile of their class. Does a 3.67/4.20 get you into the top 10%?

If so, a well-thought out EA app could be successful. Regardless, the chance of you getting rejected EA is slim. At worst, you would be rolled over to RD.

If you are in the top 10% of your class and you have taken a rigorous course load as well as participated in some extra curricular activities, I would absolutely apply EA. Just spend a long time on the essays.

Thank you for your responses.
I am going to put everything I have into the essays and then…
say a prayer. ( :
Thanks again
