I got only 18.5k.
With this aid, I can't enroll...
:-(
Anything to suggest??

"only 18.5" ????????????????? That's a lot more than most get. Is your main goal to go to WPI or just school in the USA, because maybe you could find another school that doesn't cost as much. Just curious as to what country you are from and how you came to the decision to apply to WPI? Can you go to school in your country and maybe do a semester exchange type of program to check a place out before you fully apply?

I just got my merit aid letter yeasterday. I got 17,000 a year for a total of 68,000 over four years. With need based aid, I may be able to go to college for nothing out of my pocket.

i have to call wpi again, cuz they said they never received my FAFSA =[

@wpirpi
-50000-18500=31500 is almost three times our family's annual income. But I have some money in my savings. Still it's too much money.
-I'm from Mongolia. I applied 8 other schools. But, WPI was one of my top-choices...

^ keep in mind that internationals don't always get benefits such as FA in many schools in the US. that 18.5k is actually alot i think, but again, it's your choice. it's pretty sucky for internationals ~ heh
well good luck in ur other schools! =]

ACCEPTED!
but no financial aid...

was that supposed to come in the same envelope as the decisions letter?

carothetaro -- Not necessarily. I don't know about financial aid based on need, but S's merit $$ letter came separately, about a week after his EA 1 acceptance letter.

This may be a tought question, but here goes- my son was accepted to WPI with a $16K Presidential Scholarship. However he has also just been notified that he is a National Merit Finalist. WPI says on its website that a Finalist who names WPI as his first choice will receive a minimum of $17K. Now this is a bit of a game, because you can only play your "first choice" card once. He is applying to other schools that offer the same kind of deal, and the amount of merit aid is very important to our family with these tuition rates. Does anybody have any experience (or estimates? or guesses?) as to how much additional aid a $16K Presidential Scholarship recipient might expect to get AFTER being named a Merit Finalist? Is there any correlation do you think in before vs. after amounts?

Still haven't received my decision. The midyear reports from my school were a bit late, but it's been a while now. Should I inquire, or just wait it out?

fetou did u apply ea 2 or rd?

I applied EA2

you should probably smack a b*tch in admissions.

Still waiting here. They needed a grade update, which they got last week. Son was told he'd hear soon.

woohoo! 14k presidential scholarship!

no scholarship letter here yet. Son got his acceptance letter on Feb 4th. So I am starting to think he will be overlooked for merit aid. Maybe they are waiting on his mid-years which were just sent We sent in his recent ACT scores too in case they will help get him some $ (he got a 34)

Merit award in today's mail
Not enough probably to sway us
Maybe once they get his mid-years and his ACTs they will up it. I will probably have him ask if they will look at them and reconsider.
bummer

Finally got the EA2 decision in the mail today, and I got accepted. Pretty happy to be accepted despite the weak 630 on the Math SAT.

Haven't gotten to see the letter yet as it is at my parents house (and I live in an apartment with my brothers closer to my high school).

Anybody know if the acceptance letter comes with a PIN or online login?

^last time i got it, it was in the same package...there is a unique # or something,i forgot, that u can use to login to the "admitted students" section

Finally! Son got his acceptance letter today - very happy - along with scholarship letter - pleased.
