Early Action applicants... post your worries/decisions here

I am also under the impression that merit aid and financial aid are not connected; we were just at an open house there in Nov and they said the merit aid would come with the EA decision and financial aid is not due till Feb. It would be interesting to see exactly how the e-mail was worded??

Here's what the letter said:

We have received information that you are interested in applying for
financial assistance for the 2008-2009 academic year. We are writing
to
inform you of the necessary forms that are needed to determine your
eligibility for assistance.

The following information describes what is needed:

CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE (Not Received)
Copy of Social Security Card (Not Received)
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (Not Received)

The CSS PROFILE form is available to complete now. You and your parents
can
estimate your income for 2007 when completing this form.

Please note that the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is
required but cannot be completed until after January 1, 2008.

As soon as we receive the requested information, we will continue our
review
of your eligibility. An Offer of Financial Assistance can be sent to
you
when your file is complete and if an official admission offer is made to
you.

If you have any questions regarding the requested documentation, please
feel
free to contact our office at 617-373-3190.

Sincerely,

Why would they evaluate your need for assistance if you weren't already accepted? ;]

That's what I'm hoping!!

well i hope northeastern puts it online soon
when did they post them last year?

Last year's decisions came out on 12/18

Merit has no connection to financial need.

worried about my mid-year report messing up my chances for substantial merit-aid... sigh...

:-(

they wont get my midyear report because im not halfway done till january

the midyear report won't factor into acceptance unless they are substantially lower. If you applied early action, then you are already accepted/denied, and won't likely change. If you are accepted and get horrid grades for the midyear report, hopefully they won't cancel their admissions offers.

On another note, directly from the NEU admission's blog:
"Well, winter is here in Boston! We were buried under a foot of snow this past week, but it hasn?t hindered our work on reviewing and making decisions for our early action applicants. I am excited to share that we plan to release early action decisions during the week of December 17. Although we publish an early action decision release date of no later than December 31, the Admission Committee has worked hard over the last several weeks and we are pleased to announce that we will be able to release our early action decisions well before December 31. When your decision is ready, I will send you an e-mail with instructions on how to log on to view your decision and decision letter.

I realize this is an anxious time but know that we are working to release decisions and soon as we are able. We appreciate your patience - be on the lookout for my email! "

Yeah, I think admissions decisions are coming out this week. I tried to log into the application status thing, and it a box popped up telling me that my decision wasn't yet available, and I should wait for the email. I can't imagine that I won't get in, I'm just hoping for good scholarships. Now I'm really anxious.

THEY ARE UP!

I got in!

My son got into the Engineering program= his first choice!!!!!!!! Yahoo!!!!!!!!!

mine are not up!

mine isnt up either :(

daughter's are not up yet either, but she got an acceptance to one of her schools with a nice scholarship offer.
She also got a deferral from a school she fully expected a rejection from. A real shock because I am reading about rejections letters from kids that seem to have higher stats

Maybe at 6:00 the rest will be up

not up yet
relax

Not up! Gah :[

maybe tomorrow.. lol
