Nothing here either. Had high hopes for the start of the new year but still waiting!

My DS nervously comes home and reports what his classmates have been hearing on the college application front. Yesterday he reported that a classmate had been deferred from UNH (and rejected from WPI). He feels that his stats are about the same as this boy so I think he got worried. I don’t don’t know anything about this classmate’s ECs etc. so I tried to remain positive.

Son got a letter in the mail today, he has been deferred. They want to see his mid year grades, and right now he’s sporting a D in English, so not looking good.

Funny thing is he has already been accepted to Umaine with a pretty good scholarship. If the npc’s are accurate, Umaine will end up being cheaper for us anyway, and we live in NH!

So I just went and checked my portal and noticed that it says under Webcat/Services and then admissions that it was created on november 16th. I sent out and postmarked everything on the 15th though and checked off that I was applying early action on my CommonApp. It currently reads complete-ready to review. Am I going to have to wait for the regular decision deadline now?

miltoney - my son has also been accepted to UMaine and waiting to hear from UNH. When did you find out about the schoalrship money? I was hoping he would get something although he is a B+ student, so my hopes werent that high!

Looks like UMaine would be cheaper for us too due to merit scholarship but unfortunately my son did not apply there. Comes out pretty good for OOS. Still no word from UNH!!!

I called UNH today to check on the status of my son’s application and was told that they will be finishing the early acceptances by the end of January. They said they are sending them out in batches.

Also, my son’s UMaine acceptance did not come with any financial information.

Staying positive while waiting for his decision :)

Has anyone that has been accepted to UNH received any word about scholarships? My son was accepted in early December, but received no financial information. He is OOS, so merit is important.

It seems that UNH only gives Merit to students that are in the top 10 -15% of graduating class - $10000 if you are in top 10% and have a have a 1970 sat/29 act or
$6000 for top 15% with a 1760/26. We are OOS as well, but while son’s rank, etc is good - not high enough to qualify which makes the price tag hard to justify!

My DS has the SAT scores but not the class rank. Have heard from other people in town who have all ready gone thru this process that UNH is known for giving “no money”.

My son received his letter today, deferred. He’s a good candidate, but the SAT scores were low. He’s going to stay positive until he gets his final decision by the end of March…what a long wait!!

I’m disagreeing with those that say UNH does not give any $. My daugher is a freshman, she received the presidential scholarship of $10,000 plus a generous grant from UNH.

IcecatMom-I am glad to hear that some people get money from UNH. We are in MA (obviously by my name) right on the NH border and I am just going by what other people have said. My son is probably in the top 25% of his class, gpa 3.3-3.4 and got 1790 on his SATs. I will be interested to see if he gets any money (although we have to hear 1st!)

Sorry about the deferral, hope for better news in March.
