@STEM2017 My D graduated from LUM last May. Not sure if things are still the same, but when her class applied acceptance was not by major. They were accepted to the school and it was very easy for them to change majors , which is nice. Her friend applied as a biology major but changed to engineering when she registered for first semester classes during orientation.
I just took a closer look at the Presidential Scholarship and it’s requirements. Student must maintain a 3.0 GPA, which is pretty standard for merit aid and isn’t a major concern. But the part that disturbed me is that the student must get a “C” or above in EVERY class. Now for all you 4.5 GPA kids out there, this may seem like no big deal, but college is very different than high school and Bs and Cs and yes Ds happen. Maybe you had a bad professor or a bad day during finals or a terrible midterm that you just couldn’t recover from, but it happens. If my kid loses a $100,000 worth of scholarship money because he got a C- in some random class, I would not be a happy camper.
This is a concern. I need to give them a call. Anyone have any personal experience on this?
