Early Action/Decision Class of 2019

When you say the 31st, is that of November, or December? would be pretty cool to get my decision in less than a month

@Alden97‌ the 31st of December, unfortunately. 1 more month of waiting

November has 30 days anyways lol.

@Njrunner an email notifying us of when our decisions have been posted?

just received my portal stuff today! they received all my required scores and documents

Me too!!!

I’ve heard that decisions are all mailed out so they are supposed to arrive at your house on the corresponding day but you can check the portal to find out a day or so earlier. Also once decisions are sent out they will send you an email.

Hoping for a big package and not a small piece of paper :-)

Decisions are released online. You will receive an email with a link to the web page. Mailed packets will be received about a week later.

Thanks for that @TomSrOfBoston‌, are they all released at once, or do they do them in groups?

Based on the past, all ED decisions will be released the same day and all EA decisions will be released the same day a couple of weeks later. EA decisions have been released as early as February to top applicants but most will come out the same day in March.

No guarantee it will be done the same way this year.

@TomSrOfBoston‌ the school’s website says that the ea decisions will be released the 31st of December, and since early decision has never been done in the past, there is no way of using past data to project when ea decisions will be sent out in comparison to ed ones. I’d just go by the website and expect them by New Year’s Eve.

@awkwardntall Believe what you want to. The website says the decisions will be released BY December 31st. For the past several years EA decisions have been released a week before Christmas. Search out the old decision threads here on CC.

I think TomSr accidentally gave the wrong terms: RD comes over February-March, not EA. In the past, EA have all come out on the same day, generally a few weeks before December 31. Northeastern hasn’t done ED before, so we’ll see if that’s different.

Oops! Thanks @nanotechnology, I meant RD in February and March.

my applicant page shows that i still need a passing english proficiency score. does anybody know what that is?

Are you an international student @sreyomayo‌

@Alden97‌ no, I called admissions and it seems that if you state that english isnt your first language then this happens. I have went to school here my entire life. the officer on the phone said i need to contact my regional officer and have her change it.

Hi-just wondering if anyone knows what the NU Legacy Information Sessions are all about. Is it worth fighting Boston traffic(they are scheduled on weekday evenings)? My son applied EA and is a double legacy. My gut feeling is that they are trying to see if these kids applied because they really like NU or just because their parents made them. Excerpt from registration website:

Congratulations on applying to Northeastern University!

Northeastern is committed to providing Legacy applicants with the highest level of support and consideration throughout the application process.

Legacy information sessions are offered exclusively to Legacy applicants and their families. Sessions will demystify Northeastern’s application review process and possible admission decisions. Legacy support staff will be available to answer questions as needed.

Registration is required for all sessions. To reserve your space, please select the date and time you wish to visit campus. Please note that registration will close two days prior to each session.

My S received email from NEU regarding CSS profile, that he needs to fill out, etc. So, they wrote: “We can create a financial aid award offer for you if you are offered admission to Northeastern. Early Decision applicants will be notified of their admission and financial aid statuses by December 15.”
So, if you apply ED, you should know if you are accepted by Dec.15th, according this email. Is that right? Did someone else received this email?

@NoelMap I am also a legacy applicant and attended last night’s meeting. It basically ran through all the support services offered to legacy students and answer ANY questions about the admissions process. Ms. Abromaitis also talked about how they holistically look at an applicant and stressed that Northeastern accepts students who will thrive at their school. Legacy is certainly not a shoe in. If you have anymore questions, do not hesitate to ask!

@MHMdad If you plan on receiving financial aid, the CSS profile through collegeboard is due November 15. If you apply ED, you will know your admissions decision and a tentative financial aid package. Nothing is finalized until the FAFSA is completed for February 15.
