Early Action, Early Decision, and Regular Action

I'm really unsure about EA and ED, what it means to an applicant during admissions, how it can affect an applicant's admissions chances for the good or bad, what criteria an applicant should have for deciding whether to go EA/ED or regular admissions, etc.

Can someone elaborate? How/why should I choose a school to go EA/ED on, if any at all?

often asked question. Do a search on this forum

Definitions of these terms can be found here: [Admissions Terminology | Admissions360](http://www.admissions360.net/?page_id=113)
Other then that, in the most general of terms, ED nearly always helps while EA can (at top schools) be detrimental to the applicant for they are competing against very well qualified students (unless, of course, you are a qualified “hooked” applicant).
