Early Action rate 2011

Alright so my GC called MIT today and he spoke with the regional director for New York. She wasn't able to discuss each applicant specifically, but she did say that this year that EA rate for MIT is 10%... scary...

this makes me cry ;(

There aren't any "regional directors" in MIT Admissions. But the EA admission rate will be known in just a few days.... Good luck, everyone.

I believe there are heads for the ECs in each region

yeah sry I don't know what MIT calls them but my GC told me he had gotten off the phone with the person in charge of New York... so... I just said regional director...

10.... percent?................................ -_-; oy. I don't understand why they make it so low. If they can fill up 30% of the class with EA why not do so? Chances are they may lose cross-admits to Harvard and Yale.

I think that 10% of EA applicants is 30% of the incoming freshman class; it was posted on one of the admissions blogs that the number of applicants was up from last year.

Still, that's pretty scary and depressing.

It is, a very high percentage of EA admits enroll.

Let's look on the bright side, guys: at least it's still in double digits...

haha dally I love your posts

Yes its higher than iirc harvards acceptance rate!! but for some reason, i believe MIT is harder to get in.. just my belief.

:( <-- all i can say

 Sorry, your wittiness is too much for my prefrosh brain to handle!

Unbelievable! 10%! I just can't see how the admission officers can pick 1 student out of 10 extremely qualified applicants. There has to be some randomness or luck involved. This is crazy... For example, I can't see how they would pick me OVER 9 other great SAT scores, GPA's, extracurriculars. wow.. Tough job for them!
