Thanks! Sent in 2 more recs, visited the school, talked to 2 admission counselors, sent in grades, and a letter of interest. Can I get in :/

That will mostly depend on the program major you selected for admission and your academic base/achievements. You will now be competing with a larger applicant pool which means the university will have more to pull from, however “stats” and other subjective data tend to normalize or go down in the regular pool because most of those who knew USF was their first choice and they knew that had the background for it already applied EA and were most likely accepted.

I can’t say if you have a better chance now than before because it can vary be school and major, however I think your shown interest WILL be taken into consideration. I know someone who applied RD with no so stellar stats, but a few days before the app was due found out that their HS transcripts never made it there (snail mail) so the student contacted his AdRep and worked out a deal to drive them in from a couple hours away and personally hand them to the AdRep because the student said it was that important to them. They were accepted for admission.

BTW, when DOES USF release RD decisions?

Good luck.

Yeah keep in touch with your Adrep I know I have talked on the phone with mine at least twice and we have talked in person at least twice as well.

My son received Early Action acceptance just before Christmas, but received EA acceptance at LMU, Fordham, and SCU weeks before USF!

I think in march. They said to send in everything by march 2nd. I just don’t know what else to send in and how to show I am interested and will attend for sure. Its m top choice. Any ideas? Thanks so much

newyork,

There’s only so much one can do ultimately. It seems like you’ve done quite a bit to let them know. This is where a religious person starts praying.

What major did you apply for? Do you have good ECs to go with the selected major? Have you been accpeted to anywhere else yet/applied early action?

Best of luck.

I got into wilamette, sf state, st marys college of california, mills college , st johns university, dominican university of california, st leos university , and notre dame de namur. As you can see the only school that I ak considering from those is willamette. The rest are not even worthy as back ups.
I applied as a bio major. I have dOne many activities like volunteering at an hospital and a lot of leadership positions

Overall your app should look pretty solid then. Mainly a matter of how you stack against the other students who applied as bio majors. Unfortunately, I can’t tell you that. Only they (the other students) can tell you that by posting here.

So why did you apply to 7 other schools if you weren’t even planning on counting them as backups? What did you think was so bad about those schools?

Mills College and Saint Mary’s College of California are ranked 5th and 12th in Regional Universities (West) respectively by US News. Just because they aren’t ranked nationally doesn’t mean they’re not great schools. They are categorized in that way based on the ranking criteria of the ranking institution. Mills College even has a lower acceptance rate than USF. Not sure if this is because more students apply to it as a safety school though.

I applied to over 20 colleges. I know im crazy . It was out of fear.
They all sent me free applications thats why. I hope i have a chance:( will they reject me? Did you get in?

Mills is not by any means a crummy school, in fact it’s highly under rated.

^Completely agree about Mills depending on one’s future aspirations/career goals. I would reconsider Mills, newyork, especially if they give you a better FA package and such.

Is there a facebook group for USF '16 students? I’m still considering attending USF but I’d like to get to know all of you :)

You can always make an unofficial one! I might even join it!

Actually, I searched and found that there is one

https://www.facebook.com/groups/230832266983712/

LOL okay thanks guys. I just don’t wanna go to Mills because
of the location and also because I would NEVER go to an all women’s college…

^Guys are overrated anyway.

LOLLLLL… But I kind of plan on making guy friends and getting married one day if you know what I mean. I love diversity… And I need guys in college! LOL. Turtlerock, where have you applied and gotten in so far?

I’m so worried I feel like I won’t get into USF.
I’ve showed interest and done a lot to get in though… But I think thats not enough still… I’m gonna go cry now.

newyork, the last thing you should do is cry. Save the crying for when you receive their FA package.

I have been accepted to USF and University of Alabama so far. Waiting on another local LAC and another OOS private.

Honestly, you have already been accepted into comparable schools to USF, so you are most likely fretting over nothing. I think you have great options and it’s highly likely depending on your financial situation that you may end up being able to barter for better FA with USF if you show them better offers from those schools that you have been accepted to.

There’s still a bit of time before the decision, so live up life and don’t worry about it until then. You’re going to college!

Thanks turtlerock and congrats!!! People on college confidential usually bring me down haha , but you are so nice and uplifting. I really appreciate it.
My mom keeps wanting me to get into USF. Its like my parents’ dream/goal for me now. I don’t wanna let them down. I don’t know what else I can do. I know we are still gonna visit the campus (AGAIN) to show more interest.
I really hope things work out for me at USF and other schools, but especially USF because I really feel like I am connected to that school. THe courses, the city life, the whole message of
giving back to the community is really what I’m looking for. I really hope they see everything in me and decide to accept me. I’m sure you will end up going to a great school too (: Thanks for the advice.
