Hello there. (First post!) My name's Lex, and I'm a junior from south central PA. I have a few questions regarding early action and whatever else.

I'm currently considering Tulane as my top choice, but I can't find much information on "early action" and what that means as far as applying to other schools. I used the search function on both this website as well as the Tulane website. Any insight would be lovely. Thanks in advance.

Oh, one other question - If I were to apply for early admission, would I want to retake the SATs in June, or wait longer? I need to raise my math score, and I'm just, a bit lost at this point. Thanks again.

Edit - Shoot. I have this posted in the wrong area, I'm terribly sorry!

Hi Lex -
Early Action = non-binding on your part and you can apply to multiple EA schools
Single-Choice Early Action = non-binding on your part and you can only apply to one SCEA school
Early Decision = if you're accepted to agree to attend and withdraw all applications to other schools; obviously, you can only ED at one place.

Thank you! That certainly clears up a lot, my goodness. I had read all sorts of "early this" and "early that" and never realized that there was a difference. That's certainly reassuring. Thank you again.

And just one more definition: "Early admissions" often means the student applies as a high school junior, skips senior year and does not graduate from high school.

And just to warn you, some Early Action schools say that you can only apply to one school early- so watch out and make sure you read the EA/ED information at each college's website.

If you think you can retake the SATs and do well (even with finals and the end of school and all of that), then that would be good. If you think you'll be too busy, then you can wait and take them in October. Sometimes you can even take the November or later, depending on the school.
